There are numerous treatments out there when looking for ways on how to deal with panic attacks and anxiety; and with commitment to one of these treatments and the practice of carrying out these tasks on a daily basis, you may find ways of dealing with panic attacks or even a cure for your panic attacks.

Here, I really want to look at how to deal with panic attacks. This technique is something you can do when you feel a panic attacks arising.

Lets look at one technique on how to deal with panic attacks.

First of all, wherever you are, sit or lie down (if possible). You can close your eyes if you want to, but not a good idea in public.

You MUST now focus your mind, not on what the panic attack is or what triggered it. Focus on you. Imagine you are in a bubble and no-one can hurt you.

Release your shoulders (they will be somewhere up round your ears with tension). Physically pull your shoulders down and make your back straight. This makes it easier to breath and you will panic less about actually breathing.

Now put one hand on your tummy and one hand on your chest. Breath in through your nose and count to four. The hand on your tummy should move a lot but the hand on your chest should hardly move at all.

Hold the breath and count to two.

Now breath out through your mouth for a count of six.  Keep breathing as if you are trying to empty your lungs completely.  Again the hand on your tummy should move a lot and the other hand should hardly move at all.

Repeat the above steps for a few minutes until you feel calmer, and then you can start noticing the world around you again.

By making yourself breath slowly you are actually telling your body “you are relaxed” so your body will respond by becoming more relaxed than it was.

These steps will not cure your panic attacks they will only help you to deal with your current panic attack at that particular moment.

Why not practice these steps before you have the next panic attack, then you will know what to do.

If you want to learn how to deal with your panic attacks and anxiety in the long term then you need to learn and study yourself to understand what actually triggers your panic attacks off in the first place.

Ask yourself questions like – What happened just before my panic attack starts?  What am I thinking about? What am I feeling? What changed to make me start having a panic attack?

By getting to know yourself and your panic attacks you can start to learn ways to deal with panic attacks and improve the quality of your life, hopefully free from panic attacks.
